After drilling pilot holes, I have found that there is about 8mm of Villaboard then 8mm of an airgap before a shared brick wall. Just wondering what the best method for mounting/anchoring the shaving cabinet is, ideally without having to drill in to the brick wall. However, villaboard is capable of holding 50 kg/m2 of tiles, so with multiple screws it should be able to hold 25 kg cabinet, too. The cabinet will hang off the 2 screws, and there are no studs anywhere near where I need it to hang. Is there a particular kind of screw that is best to go straight in to the villaboard? Unfortunately I can't find anchors that are short enough to fit before hitting the brick. Re: What anchor/screw to use to mount to villaboard>airgap>b 4Jun 14, 2023 12:34 am If what you describe is correct then the brick wall has been dry lined with villa board. That basically means that the villa board is glued to the brick wall with adhesive. The dobs of adhesive hold it off the brick work a small amount. There is no way of fixing your cabinet just to the villaboard. You need to drill right through and into the brickwork. Fortunately it's an easy fix. Just use a 50mm plug and screw. Drill right through villaboard and into the brick, tap in your plug flush with the wall and screw in a 50mm selftapper. It will be plenty strong enough to hold up a shaving cabinet.
