Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 01, 2021 9:25 pm I've just had my bathroom renovated using a QBCC installer/contractor and it was an all inclusive package where the tiles, vanity, tap ware, towel rails, shower screen were all chosen by me and purchased by the contractor by his suppliers. I've requested a form 16 and I have a QBCC policy to protect me for the workmanship, but they refuse to give me a copy of the warranty cards, or invoices so if there is a problem with them in future with any of these I will not have a leg to stand on. The contractor says that the Master Builder's contract means I need to go back to the contractor if there is an issue - that is if they are still operating. The Master Builder's contract in fact is completely silent on the topic of installed components. What can I do to get proof of purchase? The materials were mostly purchased from Highgroves and Beaumont Tiles. Thanks for your help. Re: Bathroom Reno - Can't get warranty or proof of purchase 2Mar 01, 2021 9:32 pm If you’ve paid them money they legally have to give you an invoice: https://business.gov.au/finance/payment ... to-invoice “If your customer requests a tax invoice from you, you must provide it within 28 days of the request. Take this into account when deciding how it will be delivered.” Re: Bathroom Reno - Can't get warranty or proof of purchase 3Mar 02, 2021 8:57 am Yes I do have an invoice from the contractor but nothing is itemised in regards to the installed components in the bathroom eg, tapware, vanity, towel rails, mirror cabinet, shower etc. I’m after a copy of an invoice for those in case of a warranty claim. The contractor refuses to give me these, and refuses to guide me on manufacturers warranty or care instruction for these items too. Re: Bathroom Reno - Can't get warranty or proof of purchase 4Mar 02, 2021 7:22 pm Depending on how they’ve discussed the project with you they don’t necessarily need to specifically itemise those individual things to you. If they’ve offered you a service, I.e. “bathroom renovation” would be where they do not need to itemise. I understand your point but they are correct in saying if there are any issues you need to go back to them. Re: Bathroom Reno - Can't get warranty or proof of purchase 5Mar 02, 2021 7:49 pm Hmmm, that is interesting. Thank you Nathan. Re: Bathroom Reno - Can't get warranty or proof of purchase 7Mar 03, 2021 5:59 am Pulse They also don’t want to or need to disclose the markup on materials. They would be the first port of call for issues, as you said. Thanks Pulse. I just have no faith that these guys will trade for much longer so I was hoping for some proof of purchase. Perhaps it can’t be done. Re: Bathroom Reno - Can't get warranty or proof of purchase 8Mar 03, 2021 7:17 am Even if you had proof of purchase, it would matter little because the warranty rests with the retailer. This is why tradespersons put a mark up on their prices. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Cleaner Neater Smarter Cheaper Supa Gutter Pumper.
