Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 30, 2021 10:35 am Hi, I have recently undertaken a renovation to a second story ensuite bathroom which has now been completed. I have also recently commenced with the renovation of the Main upstairs bathroom. I was watching some online videos on waterproofing and noticed that some of the videos showed an angle that was waterproofed over which went around the shower perimeter. I know the builder did not install this in my shower. He only installed at the entry/doorway. After some further reading it seems that the standard dictates that there is to be a waterstop in the shower as part of the waterproofing layer also which instantly made me feel ill thinking about the cost to remedy this and pulling apart my new bathroom. My question is, now that I know this has not been done what problems may/will I face if I do not do this. Is it worth removing the shower perimeter tiles and the screed potentially impacting the waterprofing to remedy or is it not worth doing? Any help will be greatly provided. Thanks A concerned bathroom owner. Re: Bathroom/Shower Waterstop 2Sep 30, 2021 10:42 am Just some additional info, The entire bathroom has been waterproofed with 3 coats of waterproofing membrane. Waterproofing to 1800mm high in the shower, 1500mm around the bath and approx 400mm round the entire bathroom and the entire floor. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
