Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 31, 2015 10:12 pm I am wondering what options I might have for a vanity with good storage. You basically step into the ensuite, and you're at the sink, right up against it. With the door shut behind you, you are basically right up against both the sink and the door. If you were morbidly obese, you would have a problem. To the immediate right is the shower. To the left is a towel rail and then the toilet. That's it. Right now there is just a pedestal type sink. I would need a proper vanity, ideally with 3 drawers in either side of 2 cupboard doors. Plus, a nice looking large mirrored cabinet above. I've had a look at some narrow vanities online but really don't like them. I just don't like the plain white Bunnings-style ones. Ideally, I love the look of a dressing table with a nice bowl basin on top and the hole and plumbing cut through. Is this even possible in such a narrow space? Also, with the current sink, you can't see any of the pipes, whereas with typical vanities you have them inside the cupboard. Would this further complicate things in that all different pipes would need to be utilised? Would the plumber have to go into the wall? Has anyone had anything like this in their house? Am i being unrealistic? Thank you! Re: Teeny tiny ensuite 2Aug 01, 2015 5:41 pm First recommendation: Make sure the vanity has legs, preferably higher ones. The primary advantage is that you may slip your feet under and get closer to the basin, particularly good for a shave or brushing your teeth. Legs work out better than a wall hang configuration in your case because you get more height, and by extension, more cupboard space for storage. It is possible to do almost anything with vanities, but it depends on what you're willing to spend. Custom cut cabinets have a lot of flexibility with how you can design it or use basins/tops on them and even come with 10 year industry standard warranties. Of course, these are not as cheap as imported variants. If you give some number specific things you're looking for (ie size limits, etc) , I may help you find out what is possible. Re: Teeny tiny ensuite 3Aug 04, 2015 11:56 pm Thank you so much for such a helpful reply! The doorway is 60cm wide. The current pedestal sink is 36cm deep. The space along that wall would allow about 38cm before it'd hit the toilet on the adjacent wall. As far as i can tell from my scribbled notes, the room depth from wall to doorway is 88cm. the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 12684 if i have understood your dimensions correctly my suggestions include using the smallest toilet and wall hung handbasin eg Caroma Urbane with in wall cistern, small wall… 1 8402 |
