Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 22, 2015 9:35 pm Hi all, Masters had a 10% off sale last weekend so I picked up some ?Villaboard for the new bathroom walls. However, I have to put the cement sheet flooring down first. It is the 18mm flooring. I have cut it to size but need to join a few sheets. The recommended adhesive (501?) from James Hardie is pretty expensive about $100) and I saw some Stickaflex for about $15 that is supposed to bond cement. Do I REALLY need to use the James Hardie stuff or can I get away with something cheaper that is still flexible but also specific for cement?? am I a cheapskate? Appreciate your help! Re: Adhesive for Cement sheet flooring 2Jul 28, 2015 12:37 pm Considering the sheets are from James Hardie, one would assume that they would only recommend their own product. In reality no, you don't need to use their gear and an alternative product that specifies that it can be used on cement sheeting is sufficient (proviso you get a decent brand etc). If you are particular about warranties, then you might want to check to see if the cement sheet may only be used with their products to ensure the warranty on the sheet is valid. Then make a judgement on the pros and cons. Are you a cheapskate? Hells no. You are just being made to think that buying their product is superior. So think wise instead!
