Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 11, 2012 1:39 pm Hi all We had a Gen III reverse cycle air conditioning with individual room temperature installed in our new double storey home in Perth about 3 years ago, for the most of the first year the system was incredibly rubbish, cooling was like a small desk fan and heating in the winter was like having a lit candle for warmth. I complained and complained until finally after several months and as many tech visits an engineer replaced a component and everything kicked in to place, heating and cooling was much better. However not on par with friends' ac systems which were much much cooler in the summer and much hotter in the winter. We do have warm air now but it takes up to 2 hours for the heating to move from 19deg to around 21.5deg. which i argue is not what its supposed be like. Have spoken to Intelligent life and they advise that thats how it is, "its supposed to just take the ambient temperature to a comfortable level". I don't believe them and dont seem to be getting anywhere. So i was wondering if anyone in Perth with the same Gen III system could help me out and advise of how quick they're system heats up the home and how its been like during the hot summer days. I really need help on this one as this whole saga has almost taken over my life!! and i really really need to get this fixed as soon as possible. Re: Intelligent Life Gen III ac system 3Jul 13, 2012 7:29 pm Thanks iceman have given them an ultimatium, fix it for good or i will take legal action. But i still need to back up my claims with hard evidence, like some one else with the same system and compare heating times and values Re: Intelligent Life Gen III ac system 4Dec 31, 2012 10:16 am Hi there Just wondering the outcome of your discussions with Intelligent Life? We also have the same issues, which have now been ongoing for the last three years! We have lost count of how many times we have had techs come out and every winter/ summer we are given different excuses as to why the system isn't working effectively. After spending a small fortune on this system I want it rectified once and for all. If you could let me know how you got on that would be much appreciated. Thanks Re: Intelligent Life Gen III ac system 5Jun 14, 2013 5:43 pm Anyone reading this thread still? I have one with accent air three phase 16kw unit and it cools and heats but sometimes the unit stops for some minutes and it has not reached temp yet. I understand that in winter, that this is likely due to defrost activation on the outdoor unit. but in summer? The system sometimes turns on for like 6 seconds and turns off again when the unit is off. time goes out of sync. And with soft starter on the outside unit... do you hear a "Tung" sound when it turns on? Re: Intelligent Life Gen III ac system 6Feb 10, 2016 6:03 pm Apologies all, havent been on here for ages. Intelligent life now advise that they only manufacture. all repairs and servicing is done by third party businesses, they gave me a contact for one and when i called them they said that they didnt. The ac is overdue for a service by 2 years - and i have given up on getting a resolution. for me this is how i making it work. In the summer the AC comes on as scheduled and is set at fan speed SLOW. the reduced air flow seems to let the unit in the roof cool down quicker, then when the air is coming out nice and cold (by which time there is at least some cooling in the rooms), i switch the FAN speed to MEDIUM and then you can feel the cooling much better. after about 20 mins the air is not as cool and i switch the FAN to SLOW and let the air get cooler again, then back on to MEDIUM. obviously i don't have the time to do this throughout the day, but as i do remember i make the switch that seems to do the trick. If they could program the controller with and additional button 'ALTERNATE' rather than just SLOW, MEDIUM and FAST then this would fix it all up. Its the same for WINTER when using heat. The security code on the controller on mine is IL741 - which allows you to see a few more funtions such as the intake air temperature. its with this i can see that when switching the fan to SLOW the intake temp lowers in summer and increases in WINTER. from this i take it that the the FAN unit is not matched to the cooling/heating unit with the FAN being to powerful. Other issues - when all rooms have reached temperature, excess air is supposed to be released through vents on the landing, which it does seem to to sometimes, other times it will just gush out one of the bedrooms like a gale force wind even though that room has reached the desired temperature...it continues to cool it down. ALSO all hand held remote controls have failed with RF error. All in all a good well though of system completely let down with poor quality components throughout.
