Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 15, 2021 4:43 pm Hi all; i am keen to understand from others if/how they have improved the insulation of their home. My house is 2 storey - lower storey is double brick - upper is brick veneer with gyprock and stud. what options are there to retrofit some insulation ? currently none in walls - only roof Also - in the roof i have batts sitting on the ceiling. Any benefit in doubling this ? Also any insulation for between the rafters (under the sarking) ? i was thinking maybe rigid polystyrene for here and the brick work at the end of the roof i live in Central Coast NSW if that helps no double glazing Any advise appreciated. Alternatively, you could clad the house in foam, and then finish over it (render or extra cladding). dsz8738 Also - in the roof i have batts sitting on the ceiling. Any benefit in doubling this ? No point putting any up against the roof for warmth, but could be beneficial if heat was an issue as the roof cavity can be a big oven. For cold, just put more on the ceiling. dsz8738 no double glazing Glass and frames are very thermally leaky, so you might consider supplementary glazing.
