Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 03, 2020 7:25 pm Roses and Lemons like deep soil but lemons need free draining soil as they dont like their feet wet which most roses can tolerate for periods. lemons require a lot of organic matter to help with fruiting and need to test soil to make sure they have enough Nitrogen to produce a lot of viable fruit. I would not plant them too close together as roses dont like the base of plant to compete with other things like grass or roots from other plants but both require good sun to fruit n bloom. If you were to plant ground covers just make sure they dont invade the base of either plants keep a ring around them free of plants so the Roses and Lemon dont get diseased stems. Plant annuals around and in between the plants like Lobelia or Portulaca plants as they grow low and easy to trim at bases of plants, Hello.
