Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 23, 2016 2:47 pm Hi All, I'll hopefully be doing my landscaping soon for my house that's being built. As costs are an issues i will be doing a lot of it myself once the house is at lock up stage and just after its finished. Due to the specific planning and council permits my landscape design was part of the building permits and needs to be implemented before we can move in (very strict council i know) I want to set up a relatively automatic lawn watering system but i just feel that i don't NEED to go with a standard irrigation system with pop up rotors. I really think i should be able to get away with 3 well placed impact sprinklers (heavy duty, running on different times/taps if need be, with up to 10-15m throw/radius) I know there will be overflow, but the garden beds can always do with some water so i'm not too worried about that. I just can't find much info on people setting up fixed impact systems? I've attached a rough picture to show you what i mean (the shaded area is the lawn). What do you all think? Thanks in advance, and merry X-mas to all! Phil Re: HELP! Fixed lawn watering system with 3 x Impact Sprinkl 2Dec 23, 2016 4:48 pm Hi Phil. Your best to stick with hoses and the impact sprinkler. Simply put, the lawn will not get an even distribution of water. You need to overlap sections due to the irregular output of every head pattern including the impact. Look online and you'll find plenty of material about distribution of heads and overlapping of the irrigated sections. Re: HELP! Fixed lawn watering system with 3 x Impact Sprinkl 3Dec 23, 2016 5:05 pm Thanks. So just to confirm, you think a hose and impact system will be fine, I just need to make sure I get the right placement, number, spray patterns/angles, water pressure etc...? Re: HELP! Fixed lawn watering system with 3 x Impact Sprinkl 4Dec 23, 2016 10:00 pm Exactly. Run a few poly pipes to a few sections like east, West, and finish with a standard shut off valve and male hose clip to wherever it's convenient to connect your hose attachment. Then just use a small section of normal hose and move your sprinkler around. When your done, kick the flexible hose into the garden edge and it's all good. You can also use it to water the garden. Just makes it easier, and in my opinion the best way to use poly pipe without the hassle of pressure and leaks etc. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
