Its nice and small now but its naturally a huge tree/root system so eventually it will get bigger even if you clip it. Regardless of clipping, the future risk is far outweighed by the remote chance nothing happens. Look to far tougher examples for hedging ideas. Correa, westringea, melaleuca little Nessie. Exotic varieties like buxus will be outclasses for hedging by Australian natives. Plan for the future. Your weather maybe wet, that comes off the back of one of the most severe ElNinos ever.
