And dont apply more than the label describes. For what its worth hand pulling those broad leaf weeds will give you a quicker result. Personally i only use herbicides on perennial weeds (eg the same weed that comes back every year in the same spot). its not great to spray toxic chemicals repeatly in your yard so its best to leave them where hand pulling doesnt work. You can post pics your weeds here and someone here will give an attack plan rather than spraying as a first option. Re: Fu Manchu's Guide to Soil Prep & Laying Turf 282Jun 05, 2012 10:05 am I only manually pull the weeds in my yard for quicker results. I never use herbicides because my garden is just so easy to maintain. Fu Manchu's Guide to Soil Prep & Laying Turf 283Aug 05, 2012 7:52 pm Hi guys , Just read through this whole thread and loving it.I am not too far off having my house completed and I am thinking of having a large amount of certified organic compost dumped in my back yard in a pile and maybe have it sit for a couple of weeks before I start my turf and garden. The reason as I want to do this as I want to fence my house up ASAP when I move in and figure it would be easier to get the compost dropped in the back(next door is currently vacant land)before I fence up the house. Was curious would this be ok to have the compost sit around for a week or 2 until I am ready to start? Re: Fu Manchu's Guide to Soil Prep & Laying Turf 284Aug 05, 2012 10:44 pm We had our organic soil stuff sitting in a huge hill for more than 21/2 months before it was spread and rotary hoed through.(phew- as ours had piggy poop in it) Then it was a little while week later that the lawn was put down. Re: Fu Manchu's Guide to Soil Prep & Laying Turf 285Aug 17, 2012 5:39 pm It'll be fine but don't fall into the trap of using large volumes of rich soils. we now know just how much of it ends up in places other than your garden. That's all your money along with it. Account for a 20% organic compost through the soil to a depth of 20-30cm. Everything required is covered in the first 2 pages. I think a lawn forum would be well in order. I'm about to put down some Merbau.
