Righto, time for an update, its been a while. Been slow progess over the last month due to work and some body art preventing me working out in the sun in shorts. Anyways, I have only 10 sleepers left to put in the wall to finish "phase 1".
I have come to a stand still as of today as I need to buy in a bit of steel to fix up a couple of places where it looks like the wall will be that little bit higher off the ground than I would like. There is a photo added to show what I mean.
Photo 1 - Taken from low down and shows about 2 thirds of the length of wall. The white patches on the paint is just cement dust from my gloves, it brushes of easily.

Photo 2 - Taken from the driveway end of the wall, shows nearly all of it. The empty bays without the sleepers are the ones I need to fix up with a bit of steel, like in 3rd photo.

Photo 3 - The fixed up bit, a peice of 65 x 65 galvanised SHS welded into position to stop backfill from coming out from under the wall. It will be painted the same colour as the wall

Photo 4 - Behind the wall. I have used scrap peices of timber, 1.5mm and 3mm steel shims to pack out the sleepers so the front face stays flush before backfilling.

Photo 5 - Front face of the wall, sleepers flush and neat joins. These particular sleepers seem to have much more sharper corners than the Trojan stone ones, meaning there is less gap in the joins when stacked up.

Photo 6 - One of the harder bits is at the top of the driveway (we have a shared drive with the neighbour). Before I can finish this section off I have to get a plumber in to fix the waste water access point which has been run over a few times (the broken up lump of concrete you can see in the photo). While he is replacing the riser pipe I will also get him to dig a trench a put in a storm water pipe that will go from the lowestpoint of the path I intend on putting in, to a lower point on the right side of the drive way. The drainage pipe from behind the wall will also be joined to this.

Lights have been ordered as well. I was originally going to have small round LEDs set in the wall, but thought it best not to drill 50mm holes through the sleepers so instead, am going for some small brushed aluminium bollard type with low voltage halogens to light up the path.
Progress will be slow again for the next 2 weeks due to working away and needing the plumber, so not much will happen for the next 3 weeks or so. Only a bit of backfilling over the next 2 weekends, and maybe light installation.
Cheers
Darren.
