Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 08, 2008 11:18 am Hi Everyone... I was wondering if any sydneysiders have a reccomendation for a landscaping company. DH and i were just discussing what to do with the backyard and thought some professionals would have better ideas than we could! .
And to be honest i don't really want to be hauling tonnes and tonnes of soil around like we did at our last place. (my muscles are aching just thinking about it!!). We have never used landscapers before so i am a bit scared of the cost.....so if anyone can advise as to how they found the pricing using professionals that would be really helpful. Thanks! Re: Sydney Landscaping? 2Nov 08, 2008 11:29 am We've been discussing the same thing, flissfloss ! Don't even know how to go about it
- What questions to ask ? - How much to budget ? - Whether we can do some work ourselves to save money ? etc..etc..etc.. Will be interested to know what homeoners can suggest. Re: Sydney Landscaping? 3Nov 08, 2008 2:36 pm We have a few customer's that are Landscaper's I could PM you the details on Monday if you want them.
I have never used them but one of them does all the landscaping and maintenance on one of the estates out where the Hillsong Church is at Norwest Business Park. Just let me know if you want their details. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Sydney Landscaping? 4Nov 09, 2008 10:28 pm Danma that would be fantastic!
I am getting a bit worried about the cost of the retaining wall we have decided to do along the back fence retaining walls = $$$$ Our last place was pretty flat so we did all the work ourselves including my mum and i moving 6 tonnes of turf underlay in the pouring rain in a couple of hours!. NOT keen on revisiting that kind of thing, but obviously we will be restricted with what we can afford. There is also a fair bit of satisfaction in looking at something you did yourself, so i would like to do most of the planning and planting out of the gardens. www.ecodesign.com.au They'll be drawing up plans for council, planting guide. I think we'll be doing most of it ourselves - but we'll get them to quote on doing it all as well. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Sydney Landscaping? 7Nov 10, 2008 12:02 pm Hi All,
We used Julie for our council landscape design, and will be using her contacts (most likely) when the time comes for landscaping. http://www.julieduboisgardendesign.com.au/ Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Sydney Landscaping? 8Nov 10, 2008 7:23 pm this will be your very best place to start.
The Landscaper Contractors Association of New South Wales. Give them a call, explain your situation. They will be very helpful and set you on the right track to getting what you don't even know you want yet http://www.lcansw.com.au/ They should refer you on to one of the associations members so you know you will be getting a good job that suits your budget. hope that helps Here's how West Aussies can make sand into soil Checkout The Forever Project Before starting your landscape attend a FREE Great Gardens workshop Re: Sydney Landscaping? 9Nov 10, 2008 7:38 pm We used Mirage Landscaping for our landscaping. They aren't the cheapest but they're not Rolling Stone Landscapes either. They take a lot of care in their work and do everything properly. Sometimes things take a bit longer because they prefer to get proven tradesmen (for the jobs they can't do themselves) and those tradespeople are naturally in high demand.
These guys don't tend to hit you up for every issue they find. They just fix the issue and get on with it in most cases. www.mirageland.com.au I'll post photos once the landscaping is complete. Re: Sydney Landscaping? 10Nov 10, 2008 8:48 pm Thanks everyone for sharing the websites, i am going to put my insomnia to good use and spend the night looking at them all
Did anyone see the domestic blitz episode toight? they did a great job on the gardens there, what a transformation!!!! Re: Sydney Landscaping? 11Nov 14, 2008 9:37 am Flissfloss - another landscaper for you:
http://www.australian-natives.com.au/design.php I spoke with Mark today about a quote - he's preparing it now. Seems very knowledgable about native plants and from my googling - it seems he's the go-to plant guy in western Sydney (also used to own the best native plant nursery in Sydney) Prices seem a little more reasonable too - $75/hr for consults + drawing costs. Ecodesign were around $700 After 4 years - we're in! Re: Sydney Landscaping? 12Nov 14, 2008 11:58 am Stonecutter, I just went to the link and it said that they are closing on the 13th June is that next year are they still there? or have they already closed?
Sorry, just wanting to know as we will need natives and ours will be after that date. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Sydney Landscaping? 13Nov 14, 2008 2:13 pm The Sydney Wildflower West nursery is now closed (they were leasing the land but I think it's now earmarked for houses) - but I think they can still source a lot of stock from Sydney Wildflower Nursery in Heathcote
http://www.sydneywildflowernursery.com.au/ And also this place in Terry Hills Sydney Wildflower Nursery North,. 327 Mona Vale Road, Terrey Hills If you email Mark I think he can either source stock for you or should be able to direct you to the right place. Also - someone asked for online plant places - Diversity Propogation and Downes Wholesale nursery also do heaps of natives in tube stock and pots (tubestock is heaps cheaper) After 4 years - we're in! Re: Sydney Landscaping? 14Nov 16, 2008 9:13 pm Thanks stonecutter for the link will check it out! $75 p/h is very reasonable. It's good to get a bit of an idea of costings, was starting to freak out with it all!! Re: Sydney Landscaping? 16Nov 22, 2008 5:17 am Hi, I am new to this forum. I am building in sydney and I am looking for a landscaper who can construct my entire landscape (front, back, driveway, everything outdoor).
I have a concept plan done from ecodesign as part of the council approval process. I will need someone what does the actual work. Since it involves quite a bit of $$$, I really want to find someone reliable and reputable. Has anyone used any landscapers in their home and what is your experience with them? I recently got a quote from http://www.enchantedlandscapes.com.au/ The guy seems helpful and the price seems reasonable. The quote lacks some details but over the phone we were able to clarify things. I am sure I will need the quote updated if we proceed. Someone suggested me to spend some money to get a detailed construction plan. That way, when you get quotes, there will be no arguments about what's in or not in the quotes. Has anyone gone down this path before? Is it really worth it? I am currently thinking, if I could find a trusted landscaper, as long as he is providing good quality stuff and things looks good, I will be happy. Re: Sydney Landscaping? 17Nov 22, 2008 6:11 am hi eho - welcome!
I'd say that it would be cheaper to organise driveway people separately to everything else - concreters are specialists and so a landscaper may not be the best qualified. if they organise it for you - they'll probably add 20% to the price to make some profit. Did you ask ecodesign the cost for doing the landscaping? After 4 years - we're in! Re: Sydney Landscaping? 18Nov 22, 2008 7:19 am Hi stonecutter,
Thank you for your advice on driveway. I will certainly ask around!! Ecodesign will charge me $1000+ for the construction drawing before getting to the quote. Also, I don't think they do all the work themselves. They simply project manage from what I understand. I would think finding a landscaper who does the work themselves will be more cost effective. Re: Sydney Landscaping? 19Nov 22, 2008 7:45 pm eho Hi stonecutter, Thank you for your advice on driveway. I will certainly ask around!! I would think finding a landscaper who does the work themselves will be more cost effective. Eho, I just used Mirage Landscaping for my landscape construction from a design I had done. They'll be finished next week. The job is reasonably big and these guys are pretty good and reasonably priced. My house walls will fall down before the retaining walls do. Even the council was impressed at the way they do things when inspecting the driveway. They also fixed my drainage because the builder's drainers didn't even glue the pipes together. You can find Mirage at www.mirageland.com.au. Alfred, the proprietor, will give you an itemised quote and has an excellent reputation according to a lot of other trades I've spoken to (fence guys, electricians and so on). Cheers, Jamie Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought. It pays to show your State in your avatar. Retaining wall regulations… 5 8083 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35762 Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 14008 |
