Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 122Aug 02, 2017 8:26 pm Yep Moved it two weeks ago. It was so much easier to move than I thought it would be and doesn't seem to have missed a beat. It's near the fence on the other side of the yard opposite to the pool now. Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 123Aug 10, 2017 9:39 am When looking at all the fencing regulations this week for pools we've realised that we'll need to take the photinias out along the fence. It makes me so sad. We counted we'll need to remove nine of them. Two inside the patio area all the way up to the neighbours cubby house. My question, should we do it now before the pool goes in? Maybe we can transplant them? Or do we wait and see if a certifier makes us? Really no kid is going to climb the damn things. What do we do once they're gone? We've left a meter of garden, then a meter of paving then the pool. Make it tropical? In which case do we take all the photinias out (over time) and continue a tropical theme? We also need to extend the height of the fence. I figure I'll have to use the same colour as the fence so it looks okay on the neighbours side, then we'll paint outside a dark dark blue or grey. Eventually one day we'd paint the lot. Thoughts on the photinias anyone? :/ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 124Aug 10, 2017 8:51 pm It is a shame to rip out those trees. Just my opinion... 1. Moving trees before starting construction of pool will be easier or 2. Keep trees and build pool 3.5m - 4 meters away from fence. Allow 1.5m from boundary fence to give space for trees and install pool fence between trees and pool for safety. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 125Aug 11, 2017 8:56 am Thanks for your thoughts Shazaw. We've decided to move them this weekend (well try to!). Gives us an opportunity to paint the fence, extend it easier, and then plant something ... prettier My parents have a sub tropical garden around their pool. We're going to try that Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 126Aug 13, 2017 7:43 pm Wellll we did it! They're gone. We dug three massive holes then thought - hang on a second, can we even dig one out yet??? Low and behold after half hour of trying and getting sweet nowhere we decided to saw them down. We then spent today digging out the trunk base and roots. This is my husband relaxing in his last tree hole next to the last tree remains. Super pleased with his awesome efforts: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'll admit I'm a bit excited about planting something thats way prettier! Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 129Aug 13, 2017 8:31 pm cat_dunc lozza81 Good job guys! I just can't wait till there is nothing to do in our backyard lol Oh my god I'm hearing you. Just nice green grass, some pretty plants & an awesome pool area We will both get there one day! At least you have done your front yard... that is yet to come here Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 131Aug 13, 2017 8:47 pm cat_dunc Once our pool areas are done I'm sure the rest will follow quickly. That's what I'm telling myself anyway Do you have much to do in your front yard? Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 132Aug 16, 2017 8:39 pm Panicking.. So I had a wee bit of a panic attack the other day, worried we wouldn't get everything done, that the pool would get put in the wrong place, that we'd hate it... Hubby calmed me down. He then took two days annual leave and got to work out the back. Tidied the random things we stashed out the back, trips to the tip, took apart the garden bed he dutifully made me (he didn't want a pool when we put it in!), did electrical appointments, bought fencing. Im feeling SOOO much better. Husband for the win! Fencing We bought 5 panels of extender slats for the boundary. We got 60cm high instead of the required 30cm to try hide the sheds behind it. I hope it looks okay. Hubby wanted the standard 30 but bought 60 today to keep me happy We got cream. Had to go to Hancock for the uprights for the older fence, then metroll for the newer fence, then Our town fencing for the slat panels and pool fencing. Mission but it's done! All up that came to $2,068 for three sides of black pool fencing and one side of 60cm boundary fence slat extension. We decided to postpone glass fencing until the kids are older. Too many bikes, trikes, and clumsiness at this age. We're pretty happy, it was going to cost $3900 through a local shop to get it all done, with 30cm slats not 60cm. So we saved a little bit. I wonder if we'll regret it when we try put it all together Phone calls... We got a call today .... they're digging our hole TOMORRROOWWW!! We're pretty excited over here! The pool will still come on Monday. We didn't entirely think it through when we agreed to tomorrow .. We'll have to keep two kids under 3 out of a giant hole all weekend while we set up the fencing and dig electrical trenches Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 133Aug 16, 2017 9:13 pm Costs Someone commented about costs today. Everyone is always too polite to ask, so I thought i'd throw it out there some prices (or approximate where i can't find all the dockets) we've paid for things. I like to think it's helping someone out there. If *someone ( ) wants more detailed prices I can pull out the dockets for things Re: Newcastle House - landscaping 139Aug 17, 2017 8:13 pm Go cat your on fire!!! Love the budgeting I'm a huge one for running a mean budget, interesting about the pricing too, very different up here. Your hole looks huge!!! So exciting to see it dug and ready for the shell, sand bed has been done too?? Kinda looks like it. Have you figured out what your going to plant along the fence?? Golden cane palms would be a good one as there roots are shallow and matt as opposed to a tree with root that might try and raid the pool??? So looking forward to seeing your pool go in, it was 37 here today reminded me why we NEED a damn pool too You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14664 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 36595 Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 14378 |
