Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 07, 2022 9:19 pm Hey everyone - we've recently moved into our newly built house. Concrete paths/driveway are due to be start this week coming. I am under the pump to get something sorted to make sure that we can have irrigation down the track (we're not at the point of being able to have a detailed design, so really just need to future proof). I'm struggling to take onboard feedback we've been given about how best to prep. I've attached our site plan and to explain: - black is where the paths/drive are going - I've marked out where the water meter is - red circles against the house are our two garden taps - blue lines are where I'd imagine conduit would go, if we run from the garden taps - yellow box is where a gate is (and post) On the side of the house where the water and gate are, we're having the path sit 100mm off the boundary fence (we're not in a position to replace the fence and it's not suitable to concrete up against it) - this potentially gives us a clear run from the water meter to the back yard. My questions are: - If we do have a clear run from the water meter, I just need to run something under the garden edge right by the water meter, so we can water the lawn at the front. - Assuming the run from the water meter, the fence post could cause me some issues, might need to run something around that post on either side (as the post will sit in the 100mm gap between the path and fence, more than likely. (marked in blue). If I do that, what am I using? I've read lots about 90mm stormwater, but that coming up from the concrete path and sitting next to my garden tap doesn't seem right. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all Re: Help! Irrigation prep before concrete path pour 2May 08, 2022 1:35 pm I did 75mm stormwater, both under the driveway, and from my side fence to next to the water tank (which has mains switch over done there for toilets too). I also didn't concrete up against the fence as I needed to replace sections of it. I put the pipe about 300mm under the driveway and to get access to it, I put those 300mm deep valve boxes over the top of the pipe on each end and reburried the lot. Gives you vertical access to the pipe and you can still use a cable tongue to push stuff through. The stuff near the water tank, I put on a slight fall to let water drain out if it got in there, and used a 45mm at the end to tilt it up through the concrete next to the tank. In hind sight, 45 was a little aggressive as I do need a few goes to push stuff through. On the fence side, I hand fashioned a small concrete pit around the pipe exit to stop soil getting into it. All in all, worked well. Re: Help!
