Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Dec 28, 2019 9:55 pm Hi all, I've just finished demolishining a deck that was a suspended slab design. My issue is that the concrete slab extends into the house under 3 doorways. I have removed as much concrete as I can with the jackhammer but need a nice flat surface to attach a waling plate to for the new build. What's the best way to grind the remaining concrete down? Lots of info out there for grinding concrete but not so much for my application. Was thinking about trying a cup wheel on the 5" grinder but I'm starting with a pretty rough surface (off the jackhammer) I've never used one personally and not sure if it would be up to the task. Thanks for taking the time to read this, Cheers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Grinding concrete flush with brick wall 3Jan 29, 2020 1:00 pm meminiau How is this going? Have you done the job yet? If it was my place I would just keep using the Jack hammer on the concrete until it was flush. Yeah, sorry about the late reply. I purchased a segmented diamond cut off wheel for my 5" grinder and made a series of vertical cuts about 10mm apart, then chipped them away with a hammer. Will probably get some epoxy filler to repair the areas of concrete that have broken away/level the surface in preparation for a deck ledger board to be installed. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3568 Hi there, looking to have a gym in a new build.
