Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Nov 09, 2006 10:48 am Recently moved in to our 70's 2 story brick veneer dream home. On second day realised to my horror that floor boards in rooms on one side of the house are running down hill. I do not konw what I am talking about, however, to a laymen, it looks like the slab has sunk / is sinking on one side. I had a building inspection done before purchase but there was no mention of this problem. I do not know who I go to in order to have the problem fixed. Would I go to a normal builder or are there companies who specialise in this type of repair? If its the bottom and there is no gap or visible movement between the floor and the walls it may have been like that since new. Floorboards downhill 3Nov 10, 2006 1:22 pm The floor boards are up on the second floor. I do not think the condition is relatively new because a couple of the doors on the ******* side of the house do not close properly. I think I may have to get hold of some sort of an engineer to steer me the right direction.
I appreciate Dukekamays's help though. Burns Re: Flloor boards running down hill 4Nov 12, 2006 2:28 pm you will probably have to lift the boards up to fix the problem. I have heard of a similar problem where the floor joists for the second storey were not quite up to the task for the distance they being used to span - they had used 90x45 F5 radiata to span 2.2m for anyone in the know!!. The buider replaced them with F27 90x45 hardwood joists and relaid the floor. 2 6193 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20186 |
