Hi folks. I`m very new to this forum and have been looking for a section on whipper snippers etc, but cant seem to find the page. I read various comments about different models etc, but I want to tell you abut my experience with my 23 year old McCulloch whipper snipper. Several months or maybe a year ago, the cutting head broke. I searched all over Perth with no joy. Then I came across a link called : "Just Ask.com" and I made enquiries as to where I could get a new head. In a matter of minutes I received a reply with the diagram of the machine etc and the cutting head. It was on E-Bay for US$29.45 = AUS$31.00 and I ordered it. Then the wretched machine would not start and found that the ignition coil had burnt out. So another search and I found exactly what I was looking for. A quick phone call to Randys Engine Repairs in Ohio and I had purchased the coil via the phone for US$30 = AUS$30.75. The parcel arrived today and now have the coil installed and the new cutting head screwed on. Filled up the tank with 2 stroke fuel, a couple of pulls on the recoil handle and bingo its up and running like new. Now good for another 23 years ( dont think I`ll be here by then ) but if anyone wants to know where to go, just do a GOOGLE and type in "Randys Engine Repairs" .Beats the hell out of having to fork out mega dollarsfor another one, when all this cost me was AUS$66.00 including postage. They cover Echo, Homelite, Husqvarna, Tecumseh, McCulloch and heaps more. They have been dealing on Ebay for the past 26 years and are really helpful even over the phone. So dont throw away your old chain saw, mower, whipper snipper, hedge trimmer, etc, if you cant get parts in Australia these people will more than likely have what you want in stock. :: Most whipper snippers are now made in China and are absolute junk.

Folks, I'm leaving this one there.
For the poster, It isn't normally permitted to post such things here at Homeone.
However in the interests of promoting reuse and repair rather than the chuck it away mentality, it's staying and I'll cut it some slack ;)
