I am just ripping off my old carpet and going to polish the floor board.

Does anyone know where to through or recycle the carpet? or simply put it in the bin, dont think it fits though.

When I tore up my 3 rooms of carpet and underlay I cut it into strips, rolled it up and put it in the rubbish bin and when the neighbors had put their bins out, put some in there too. It only took 3 weeks to get rid of all of it. Alternatively take to the rubbish tip.

Or perhaps your council has a hard rubbish pick-up, but you will need to cut it into manageable sized pieces.
