Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Sep 22, 2008 12:36 pm We are looking at getting a Vergola but not sure on how expensive it may get.
Has anyone had a Vergola installed? How do you find them to be and do you mind me asking what you paid? The area we are covering will be 4.2m x 4.2m. TIA Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 2Sep 22, 2008 7:26 pm Okay by the number of responses (i.e none ) I'm guessing a few people out there don't know what a Vergola is. I sure didn't until last week.
Anyway it's similar to a Pergola but with electronic slats that allow you to control the amount of light that comes into your patio area. http://www.vergolansw.com.au/residential.html Thought this might help in case anyone knew what it was but didn't know the name of it. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 3Sep 23, 2008 10:15 am You looked a bit lonely in this thread, so I thought I'd put something in.
This system looks pretty good (probably a bit too industrial looking for my taste though), At a guess pretty pricey from all the steelwork and electrics involved, but you never know. Give them a ring and ask for a ballpoint quote, maybe even do a scribble of what you want and show them so they can qoute more accurately. I done a couple of these type of additions, although in a more natural way, ie the motorised slats are replaced with fixed timber blades that are orientated at a specific angle to block out the nasty summer sun, and let in the lovely winter sun. The downside with the additions Ive done is you get wet if you stand underneath when its raining. Then again I live in Perth, it never rains over here. Good luck with it. Pat. The area would be slightly bigger than what you have and I remember it was approx $11,000 not surprisingly, we did not go ahead.
The Stratco product looks very similar and I'm sure would be be a more attractive price Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 8Sep 27, 2008 11:44 pm these have been around for years. So they must have something going for them? Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 9Oct 12, 2009 3:49 pm Did anyone have any luck with getting prices for either the Vergola or the Stratco style? I am currently investigating the same thing for a small pergola. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 10Oct 13, 2009 7:39 pm When we looked into them about 18months ago we got a rough on the spot quote of about $1000 square metre installed. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 11Oct 13, 2009 8:44 pm We had a quote for a 4m x 4m area and it was ridiculous like $20k or something . We are doing a 12m x 4m roof with a gable for $16k with a stratco-type roof instead. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 12Oct 13, 2009 9:45 pm Thanks guys, sounds like ridiculous prices, so I'll be leaving it for now Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 13Oct 17, 2009 4:40 am I guess you have already decided but a friend of mine was an installer a few years ago and Ive gathered Vergola were one of the first to use that system which, as stated, more are now using. They are good, perhaps look a little 'industrial' and are VERY VERY expensive. Shop around and compare. Arfur Re: Anyone got a Vergola - a couple of questions 15Mar 26, 2010 9:40 pm I have a friend who works for vergola and a relative who install's them I have seen them and i think they are great expensive yes but they are made to the highest quality with all the best materials used and they are very fusy about the way they are installed everything has to be perfect. But i guess they are not for everone as they are not cheap.
