Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 06, 2014 7:37 pm Hi Everyone, My house was built a year ago and I had an alfresco area included, I have just had decking put down and used this to extend the area. I now want to put a roof over the extended area to provide more shelter, I was wondering if anyone might have some suggestions of how I can do this without spending up big to match it in with the rest of the alfresco with roof tiles etc, but also without making it look like a cheap add-on. Any ideas welcome! Thanks guys. Our neighbours just went through this recently. They have an outdoor timber deck area that they could never use in Summer as it was too hot. They have now had a folding arm awning installed. The fabric matched the house colour, so it looked like it was built with the house. You will need to weigh up the cost of both with the benefits that you get. Re: Deck Roofing Extension 7Sep 25, 2015 3:58 pm Hi there I am not sure what direction this faces but personally I would build a pergola type structure. You could paint it to match roof colour to tie it in. As for shade and/or roof cover - you could either grow some vines - or put laser lite - or put some bamboo screening up in summer and remove in winter (which is what we do on our North facing pergola - gives us shade in summer but still lets sun in the house during winter.).
