Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 28, 2018 9:55 pm Hi, We are getting a butlers pantry and have the dilemma of positioning the upright freezer without it looking out of place! You can see the WIP and I have marked in yellow the likely position of the upright freezer but I feel it looks grossly out of place. Keen for some improved ideas from fellow members here. Center the freezer, which allows you to have the shelving/benchtop around the freezer. Where there is blue, I assume that's a window so if I would have floor to ceiling shelving from the left of the entrance to the butlers pantry all the way around to the window, and then leave the space under the window and continuing as benchtop space. Where you have the blue isn’t a windo rather it backs into the powder room. My wife wants to close off the pantry which is why we have doors there. In the Wisdom Manhattan44 on display at Oran Park, they have a stand up fridge and freezer on the wall where you have the blue. It looks integrated, but I’m only having the freezer there since my 828L French door will be in the main kitchen area. Re: Butlers pantry & finding the right spot for upright free 4Jun 29, 2018 8:40 am An L-shaped bench in the butlers and upper cabinetry all the way round with panelling around the freezer space? And move freezer to another corner on the top wall so you can open the doors easier? I agree, keep the separate WIP, love that design. Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Butlers pantry & finding the right spot for upright free 5Jun 29, 2018 9:59 am I 100% agree with Cooky. I'm not sure why you would want to close off the pantry as essentially a room within a room. We have a scullery, which is also a WIP, and I think it would be a pain having to go even deeper to get ingredients. Seems that Butler's pantry’s are becoming new feature rooms, which really defeats their originally intended purpose. I see objective creep happening in the housing marketplace, further increasing costs, size and complexity, just like we did when we started enclosing verandas with screens, then walls, then turning them into fully built in rumpus rooms, family rooms and alfresco kitchens. If your wife is sure on having separate doors for the WIP in the butlers pantry, then i guess the other place I'd suggest is where the blue is marked. Its then center to the space and won't hit the pantry doors. However, i do feel enclosing the WIP will make your butlers pantry feel small so something to think about. Re: Butlers pantry & finding the right spot for upright free 7Jun 30, 2018 3:29 am Maybe put freezer in WIP? if you do that you can also make WIP slightly bigger if you move the wall up a little. Will it actually get much use? if not maybe just find a place for it in the garage? Re: Butlers pantry & finding the right spot for upright free 8Jul 03, 2018 12:26 am I’d be inclined to put the freezer in the wip directly behind where you currently have in mind, so in the left hand corner. I quite like the expanded Butler’s only though, that will be a big bonus selling point when you move on, plus an amazing space for you to prep meals etc. I visited a relatives house and he went with sink in kitchen and butlers, dishwasher in kitchen and butlers and has crockery spread out between the two areas depending on… 2 44661 I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 9324 6 5472 |
