We have found out from the tile supplier that a few of our selections might be discontinued because of the long wait- it is going to be 10 months before we even get titles and they were promised originally by March 2012 and now due Mar/April 2013 (we hope)! This means I have 3 choices:

a) Start again from scratch and change everything (ARGHHHHHH) ::sad::

b) buy all of our tiles now, store them and go 'owner supplied' (more expense!) ::wornout::

c) Do nothing and take the risk that they won't be discontinued????

Please let me know what you think....! :th:

This problem can happen when building. The building companies will make you make a decision on all your selections early, hence some products being discontinued while you wait.

If you really like the tiles and are sure you will NOT change your mind while your build is in progress, I would buy them now. (not sure why this would be more expensive for you?)

The last thing you want to do is do nothing and hope they are available when you want them.....this could mean changing everything at the very last minute and having you get flustered and make the wrong choices. :(

Hey Michelle

Yes, option no. 3 was the least popular with me!

We changed the floor tiles for the ensuite and bath a month or so ago but the substitutes were so similar it didn't matter. With the rest, there is nothing out there at the moment that appeals at all, and I have looked at heaps of stuff on line. I am travelling a different road with my selections...(a more traditional country road!)

Option 2 is more expensive because we won't get the builder's bulk discount on the tiles. We also pay a fee to them for supplying them as it is something they have already said THEY DO NOT ALLOW- but if they want the business I guess we will see what they say! It's not like we planned this. The price will be very slightly offset by whatever credit we will get back from them (not holding my breath).

You are right, I LOVE what I have picked. :z: Storing and supplying them at the right time will be tricky as we live 3 and a half hrs away at present... ::hyst:: but it's worth the hassle to have what I envisaged from the beginning.

I wonder how everyone else who has bought into our estate is feeling- I hope they are doing okay. If it wasn't such a special place to live we would have been tempted to pull out a dozen times before now. More patience required.... I guess one day we will all be hanging over our fences, swopping stories...!

Hi Michelle

:D we have had a win with our builder! They have agreed to let us go owner supply for feature tiles and trims, yay! At first they only wanted to let us supply trims but the pencil trims don't go with stone, mosaic or glass features at all. We are very relieved!!!! :D

Great news :: I was going to suggest you buy them now to make sure you don't miss out, that would be heartbreaking, I also could not find anything else that I liked so I would hate to miss out.

Thanks excited, what's been happening with your build? Sorry, been looking after my sick grandkids and now it's hit me, so a bit out of the loop atm...

It's been very slow and boring plus I am not there to see it but hopefully I will get a lovely surprise when I go home. My son did say we have ceilings now :-)
