Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 15, 2012 7:27 pm Hi, we have to finalize our appliance ASAP. We have yet to pick a dishwasher and a sink. Sink is on a different thread. So we have been advised by various stores to buy either a 15 place Siemens or Bosh. The layout looks good but drying seems to be average. What would you buy with a budget up to $2600? Must wash well..seems obvious but there are some less than ideal performers even in higher end stuff. Asko looks expensive but seems that it does well with drying. So few reviews on the Internet of higher end dishwashers. I would love to pay alot less but not if things don't do their job well. Other thing is that the unit can either be semi integrated or mark free stainless steel. Help! Re: Large Dishwasher that washes and dries well. Asko? Siem 2Feb 15, 2012 7:44 pm There was a thread about dishwashers a little while ago: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=50341 which you may find useful....... Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: Large Dishwasher that washes and dries well. Asko? Siem 3Feb 15, 2012 8:21 pm I had an asko and loved it. The siemens looks lovely, but this time I bought a Miele, it comes in an XL model. It didnt matter where I asked, Miele was the most recommended of the top end. Re: Large Dishwasher that washes and dries well. Asko? Siem 4Feb 15, 2012 8:58 pm I have a bosch and I like it, it washes well, but the drying isn't fantastic. There's meant to be a 'super' drying option but I haven't tried it - I just live with the fact that I have to trade something for excellent energy efficiency. Plus, it's only really plastic items that are particularly problematic and they seem to not dry well in any dishwasher... Re: Large Dishwasher that washes and dries well. Asko? Yes we have a SI (Semi integrated) and love it, but it doesnt dry as well as our old F&P. But is so quiet Cant even hear the thing running. The drying is the part that consumes a lot of electricity. Re: Large Dishwasher that washes and dries well. Asko? Siem 8Feb 16, 2012 7:18 pm We have been living with a Miele for about 2 months now...and when I say living with i must say ... the fire is still in the relationship lol. Yes it cost all of your 2600 budget and I thought I was mad spending that on a dishwasher, but its a joy to use. We bought the fully intergrated G 5775 SCVi XXL if you want to look it up. Not the top of the range, but all you miss out on are a few gimmics...like self closeing and lights inside etc. What isnt a gimmic is the auto open drying. Such a simple idea that its amazing no one had thought of it before. How many of us have opened our dishwashers at the end of a cycle, just a little bit to let the steam out. This does that on its own so the drying is so much better. As for performance, I never used to put frypans or really dirty saucepans in a dishwasher, always washed them by hand. So far I havnt had a fail, even burnt egg has been no trouble....yeah I burn a lot of saucepans. Re: Large Dishwasher that washes and dries well. Asko? Siem 9Feb 18, 2012 4:14 pm Ok went out today and bought the Meile G5715 SCU XXL. Hope it lives up to expectations. It does the door pop thing and has the same features as the Siemens. Huge day today .spent the equivalent of new car on things for the house. Thanks for the input. It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full.
