Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 17, 2011 9:12 pm Hi Was wondering if someone could please tell me the differnce between these two types of drawers. One company insists that Grass is better than Blum and the other says Blum is better than Grass and that is why their quote is more expensive. Is one i.e Blum from Austria and Grass from China? Re: Grass vs Blum Self Closing Drawers 2Jan 17, 2011 11:53 pm The Grass headquarters are located in Höchst on Lake Constance, in the Austrian Federal State of Vorarlberg, near the borders with Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. In addition, Grass has full production facilities in nearby Götzis, in Salzburg, Germany, the Czech Repulic and in the USA. The company has its own sales offices in France, Sweden, the USA, Canada, South Africa and China. With its over two hundred other distribution partners, Grass is represented on all markets throughout the world .Hafele is one of the distribution partners Re: Grass vs Blum Self Closing Drawers 3Jan 18, 2011 6:37 am They are both high quality European drawer systems and are in many ways indistinguishable from one another. Quite a few cabinetmakers have gone over to Grass recently but often this is only because of the good pricing deals they are being offered. Blum still have the bigger reputation which will get them selected first for a while longer but Grass are rapidly catching up. Once of the main reasons that an outfit will market one type of drawer over another is that they have to set themselves up to manufacture either brand and once that is done it is easier to stick to one system. In my opinion they are of equal quality. Cheers, Earl Re: Grass vs Blum Self Closing Drawers 4Jan 19, 2011 8:58 am Just a side thought to the whole China thing. The Chinese will make anything you want, as YOU specify it. If the parent company who orders the parts orders low quality crap then thats what you'll get. Don't just write something off because its made in China. Re: Grass vs Blum Self Closing Drawers 5Jan 20, 2011 6:46 pm THanks so much for the responses. Makes perfect sense that once a company has set themselves up with a supplier they stick to it. We are going with the company that promotes Grass drawers so Grass it is.
