Post subject:  Help choosing laminate benchtop colours!

Ok, so I am pretty set on the colour of my cabinets. It's Concept Oak by Panelart - a lovely rich, wood-like colour. Very nice in my opinion.

However, I can't seem to pick a benchtop to go with it. I would love to have a granite or marble benchtop, but at the moment I'll have to settle for laminate because of the expense. In the future I would love a nice white one, without too many grains or specks. I think it makes it look to busy.

Anyway, I feel as though my options are limited. We have to choose from the Wilsonart range of laminates, and nothing has really caught my eye.

I have narrowed it down to the following: Designer White, Pearl Bisque, Crystal Topaz, Limestone, and White Tigris.

Here are some samples... (the actual colours are a bit different though)

In real life it's really really white - maybe a little too white

Pearl Bisque

Probably one of my favourites. A lot of people seem to choose this colour for their cupboards, but not sure if it'll work as well for a benchtop

Crystal Topaz

I think it has too many specks in it. My cupboards will have a wood-look, and maybe a benchtop with too much going on will not work

Limestone

Limestone is nice. But it has this greenish tinge through it which is noticeable when I put it against the tile I like

White Tigris

Too grey?

What do you guys think???

Oh, and I'm planning to use the same colours in the bathroom and ensuite.

Hey love the cabinet color it looks great. I actually dont mind the crystal topaz bench top. Any of the light colors for the bench top would work in well. Are you having the same color for your overheads? Also what is your splashback color?

I dont think the Crystal Topaz has too much going on. we are doing Burnished wood with Starlight white stone benchtops (which looks similar to the topaz) and I dont think its going to look too busy. Burnished wood is kind of similar to Concept Oak I suppose, but I havent seen Concept Oak in a full sense, only what you have shown here (and I really like it too, by the way!).

I think Designer white is too white for benchtops and it will drive you crazy.

I think Pearl Bisque and White Tigris are tied second but depending on what the colour of your tiles are etc. If you are going for warm colours, go Pearl Bisque and if you have other greys, White Tigris.

I think I'll make the overhead cupboards Concept Oak as well. And for the splashback I love those little 10 X 10 cm square tiles in a creamy brownish colour - haven't chosen a colour yet though. They are not within the standard range with our builder, and they seem to cost a fortune to upgrade, so my BF will lay them himself after handover.

I'm leaning towards Pearl Bisque for the benchtops. I prefer creamy colours to greys, and I'm still not sure about Crystal Topaz. I love the look of stone and marble, but this one looked kinda funny when I looked at the combination at the Parbury showroom.

Also, Pearl Bisque looks really nice when the light hits it, it shimmers. At first I didn't really like it because it didn't come in high gloss, but now I'm really warming up to it. Also, the porcelain tile colour that I like it a little bit lighter than Pearl Bisque, but really compliments each other well. And the tiles will be glossed, so maybe a different finish to the benchtop will be nice.

Thanks for your opinions guys! I love the colour selection part of this whole thing, but it really stresses me out at the same time. My BF says that if it looks crap in the end it'll be my fault. MEN!

This is the Laminate bench top we got. Its part of Laminex squareform range. We wanted ceasarstone but we couldn't afford it. The squareform gives the laminex edge the same smooth square look as ceasarstone.

JJ305 - I love that look. Unfortunately we have to choose from the Wilsonart range, otherwise I would have gone with something like that. Maybe I should verify that with my SC, if we're allowed to choose from different laminate ranges. I was playing around with Envisage, and I chose a similar benchtop when I figured out what look I wanted

Excuse the bad quality. I also changed the colour of the couch and cushions to similar colours of our two couches. I think it all looks good together.

Hey sezza,

I found Envisage to be a good online program to play around with colours. Although, the colours are not from the company I have to choose my colours from, but it gives me an idea of what I want.

I think I chose Wenge for the cupboards and Pure Mineralstone for the benchtop in that previous post I done.

But I have to choose from the Parbury Wilsonart/Panelart range for my real kitchen.
