Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 07, 2022 12:47 am Weirdly, not many know about Quartzite stone, it's 100% real stone, looks like marble (almost) but tough as granite. Anyway, we have purchased a slab to make a benchtop 3100 x 950, with a 600mm overhand at one extreme to sit under (from either side). Stone is 20mm thick and will have 40mm edging. Naturally no stone can hang over that far without it eventually cracking, so we were thinking of a pedestal support in the middle of the over hung section. But will we also need further steel support under the slab spreading out from the top of the pedestal? Also thinking of a booth where the table top would be 1500 x 900 and made of wood (not sure which type yet). Also hoping to have this table supported by a single pedestal instead of legs. It's a large table for a single pedestal to support, but we were told it probably can be done. Can it really? In the end, two pieces of treated timber (20mm thick) were bolted onto the joists and planed when there was too much sticking out. Passed inspection. 13 8329 Thanks Ardo, they are sort of semi concealed. I think it is only a few millimetres. I see if they can adjust the hinges. 4 4221 This is the best I have, as it is plastered internally now. I should add there is a steel post in the corner of the room between the window and the glass sliding door,… 3 1086 |
