Hiya. My DH and I are considering buying land at Eynesbury in Melbourne's west. It's exactly what we're after. But we've never built before, and Eynesbury is not the easiest place to build, so right now just the thought of what's to come is scaring the absolute crap outta me!
I'm so glad I stumbled over this site - just since this morning I've learned quite a few really important things to consider when buying land and building, that I would otherwise never have been aware of and might have caused problems for us down the track.
In the whole scheme of things, this is a small thing - but I'm unsure about what this Telstra velocity thing means. I read that link below, which I'm sure is already dumbed down for the likes of me, but I still go "huh? Wha???". Does that mean we can only get our net thru Telstra? And is it wireless broadband or something? Is that more expensive? I have no idea how that works. I have regular old cable internet thru Optus, I've had it for years, it's reliable, cheap, and I'd hate to think we'd have to change ISP's and pay alot more for alot less.

Any feedback would be appreciated, even if it's just related to building or buying land at Eynesbury, and not necessarily about their fibre optic cabling thingamajigies...whatever the hell that is.
