Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 09, 2017 2:32 pm Hi all, Given the quotes I have recieved for my renovations I am wondering if it is worth factoring moving the actual house as part of my renovations. I have a 12 acre block on the side of a hill with beautiful valley views. Currently the house is right down the bottom south east corner (closest to the 2 roads) which means I have limited downhill land for the septic lines and will in future have to install a pump to pump the septic to an uphill location from the house. As we are close to the roads we also get quite a bit of traffic noise. I'm thinking if I could move it half-way up the hill I could end up with much better views, more land for the septic and being further from the roads it would be quieter (but the main benefit would be the beautiful views from up there - as well as being able to see over the majority of my property from my house instead of only being able to see around 5% of it (as 95% is uphill behind us and hidden by the dam bank and trees, sheds etc). Anyone had a house moved? What sort of things do i need to take into consideration? What sort of costs? Can I only move the section which is currently on stumps (2/3's is on stumps and 1/3 is currently on a concrete slab - as it was added on 20 years ago). Can I move it and then have it put on a slab or would it need to be installed on new stumps? Re: House relocation - any one had a house moved? 2Mar 09, 2017 8:55 pm Hard to say what it would cost to move up a hill. Just keep in mind if you move it, it will be treated as a new build, and you'll have to comply with a lot of newer building codes. Electrical, plumbing, etc...
