Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 10, 2014 1:44 pm We are renovating the inside of our house and want to do a bit to modernise the exterior as well. We have had the roof painted charcoal (was a faded red before). We have a quote on rendering the house, but I don't know that render will suit our neighbourhood / the shape of our house. We have looked at a few paint colours - definitely going with Monument for the fascia and gutters, as well as a Colorbond fence in Monument around the backyard. So my question is - rendering, yes or no? And if yes what colour to paint - I've looked at Jasper which seems too dark and Dune which was too grey. We do have a Solar Span roof out back and it's Colorbond Ironbark. And if I don't render, what colour to paint the cladding at the side of the house? And the eaves - I think classic cream is just too yellow for my taste. Thanks heaps to anyone who can help me!!! http://s1353.photobucket.com/user/Armbyfam/media/imagejpg1_zps83b0ab57.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 http://s1353.photobucket.com/user/Armbyfam/media/imagejpg2_zps961be22e.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 Re: Design Help - Exterior Colour Scheme 3Aug 10, 2014 2:36 pm Definitely render. Sounds like you're leaning towards warm earthy tones so maybe paperbark, sandbank or similar. But bit concerned you're having too many dark features. I'd reconsider doing fascia in a lighter colour. You'll need some variety. What's the purpose of the wooden screen at the front? It seems to hide the entrance. Re: Design Help - Exterior Colour Scheme 4Aug 10, 2014 2:42 pm Thanks for your reply! So you think even if we painted the render in Paperbark there will be too much dark? What colour do you reckon for the fascia? Same as eaves? Do you have ideas for colours for the eaves other than Classic Cream? The screen is up for privacy, as there is a massive sliding door right now that looks straight into our lounge room. The entrance is behind the screen as well. I may consider taking the screen down as we are actually filling in the sliding door when we do our inside renovations. Quote: What colour do you reckon for the fascia? Same as eaves? Doesn't have to be same as eaves, but something light (eg. white, off-white, surfmist) for contrast. Fascia helps define the roof line. If you have both roof, gutters and fascia all dark, it can feel 'heavy' especially on single level homes. I'm renovating - building a small extension at the back of the late Edwardian house. I've already invested about $500 in the supplies for this. The issue is… 0 32271 |
