Hi All,

Please share your ideas to build a storage solution under the staircase. I have requested my builder to include a door to access under staircase space and looking for ideas to build a storage solution to maximise the utilisation of the space.

Food storage, water storage, house for the vacuum cleaner, coat cupboard, toy cupboard, powder room, if you get plumbing....cubby for the kids, Christmas storage including presents for said kids, put a lock on the door, a small computer niche get a good light source as no window, store your tools as safer than the garage, store the dog, play station area........? I am not sure

What have you thought about using it for? ( is that right English?!!)

Make sure you have good lighting in there

Ideally I would like retractable coat cupboard as this door is from the foyer. So when you open the door you will see the coat cupboard and if you want to access the storage behind that, you can retract the coat cupboard. I am just thinking whether I can have another door kind of thing inside the cavity, which will serve as the back of the coat cupboard.(See the attached)

By the way I do have a light point to this area.

Definately need more storage.

And yes, a second door would work. Would you put the coat hooks on this second door? So you see the coats when you open the door ( 1st door)
If you are putting coats on the side, I wouldn't bother with a second door. Who cares if you see a mess when you are getting coats out.

Hmm...I haven't thought about the idea of having another room there. Certainly I will have a closer look when I go to the construction site this week.
