You usually do you cert IV with an education institution. I had no tests just projects.

Technically speaking it is super easy compared to the stuff I had to learn when i was at uni. Its basic maths, and project planning. If you have qualification in Accounting(or running a business), project management, OH&S you will be telling others what to do.

Actually, I think it may be the MBA in the ACT that does that! :sh:

...
No seriously, it it was a fast tracked, 6 mth to qualify course. This was going back a few years ago now so not sure if still relevant.

And so the de-skilling of Australia's hands-on workforce continues. Sounds just like that d1ckhead politician (now since retired) that reckoned a sparky could be fully trained in 2 years.

There is a skills shortage at the moment because company chiefs for too many years shirked their responsibility to adequately train new tradespeople, instead preferring to hire a casual contractor that was already trained to do the work instead. Guess what, we've run out of newly trained people. Fast-tracking the qualifications of a tyro to make up the shortfall just won't do, I'm afraid.

I don't know about fast tracked, but I'm doing a Dip in Building & Construction at TAFE atm. It's just over 12mths, 2 nights per week, 3hrs per night. Lots of assignments and exams. Enjoying it tho. Once completed, providing I have a couple of years experience onsite building, I can get an unlimited building licence.

Hope that helps you a bit!

Not sure where you are but these are the regulations for Victoria - I'd imagine other states would have regulations in a similar vein:
