Im building a small front deck/landing to give the front a bit of style/eyecandy to entice buyers. Its only small at 2.5m wide x 2 m deep. Ive checked out one I stopped at down the road and have all the dimensions etc all down. Just one problem....hopefully you have the answer. Im putting on top a flat spaced slat roof. And of course I need two beams coming out from the house to put them on top of. Problem is how do I attach the beams to the house? I have limited space and can only use the gutter faschia board, as theirs not enough space on the wall above the door. I was thinking having the slats level with the gutter bottom would be nice. The usual bolt on support across the fascia is no good as you cant attach beams to the top of the support as the gutter is in the way. I dont want to use those unattractive prefab tin things with holes in as they will be too obvious...unless I have too...heres a pic which will hopefully assist: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: How to attach beam/rail to fascia? 2Apr 27, 2009 8:19 pm The "prefab tin things" are the usual way to attach beams to fascia. They can be painted to match the fascia and you'll never notice them. Re: How to attach beam/rail to fascia? 3Apr 27, 2009 8:31 pm Pryda brackets, with checked rafters/beams will do the trick... Or use roof-extenda brackets to mount throught the main roof and get the entrance up above... My opinion, this would look much better! Electrical Engineer... Don't hold that against me... And keen owner builder... Mainly the building part!! Re: How to attach beam/rail to fascia? 5Apr 28, 2009 9:03 am what sort of roof do you have on the existinfg house ? If its tiles lift them up fix a whaling plate under your gutter through the fgacia and then notch your rafters around that whaling plate. 4 9252 Old Home Restoration / Renovation Cheers mate! This is exactly what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it was something I'd find on the shelf. I agree with you, fixing the brackets to the board will look… 2 4060 Electrical just got back to me and said the most they can provide is a single power point on the Bedroom 1 side of that wall.
