Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 13, 2024 11:34 pm Hi, I live in a single storey semi-detached house with a shared wall. All is well until my neighbour’s kid started piano lessons (using an upright piano) and the noise is coming through the shared wall despite neighbours moving the piano to the wall opposite the shared wall and putting a blanket behind the piano. Neighbours are not intending to switch to a digital piano. 1) Has anyone tried soundproofing a shared wall and how effective it is? I’ve been told to look to look for a plasterer who can replaster the walls with a product called sound check (soundchek?) who could also advise on insulation that helps with the noise. Presumably both sides of the shared wall will need to be treated? 2) Has anyone used such a service before and can recommend a plasterer who does the above? This is for Melbourne metro area. Wall length is 22.6m height 2.35m. Living areas for both properties are on the same end. Appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks.
