Today I ordered road base stuff and 90 metres of garden edging that will be delivered in the morning. I have 50 hardwood pegs and I will have to put in pegs and then attach edging by drilling in galvanised screws. I am the world's least handy person. :? I'm not entirely sure how to work the drill. :...

Hi. We are thinking of doing a knock down and rebuild on our block. We would like a house with self contained accommodation for my parents, their own lounge and kitchenette as well as bedroom and ensuite of course. Are they're any such plans around? Has anyone built something like this? We would li...

The cladding looks like colorbond Paperbark or similar. I'm not good with browns, but it looks a couple of shades lighter than colorbond Jasper and it could be one of dozens of colours. Have a look through a Dulux fan deck at a paint shop and see of you can find a match. The brown colour will look m...

With an in wall cistern? We have two of these and we've never had any problems with them. We were apparently the last build through with our builder to have them, they then stopped offering it as an option so they are either very unpopular or there was problems.

@ Joles, thanks for your picture, it looks great! Is there enough natural light? Personally I would move the sink away from the corner, so that there is bench space available on both sides of the sink. But for the rest it looks pretty darn good to me! Thanks again That door is west facing but the r...

We have a full length bench and a hinged door. I wouldn't have a sliding door for two reasons, it would be an absolute PITA to clean it if it's next to the washing machine and secondly, with a hinged door, you could move the sink to next to the external wall so he cupboards are built in completely t...

There is Solver Black and that is what we have used on our front doors, ensuite doors and bi- folds. It was the darkest stain available but it does not come up black but rather a very dark brown. ETA: I have tried to add a pic of our doors but the iPad is being moronic and won't let me click the lin...

Thanks my husband is on his way to the police station now. The neighbour is elderly and I think scared of getting involved. In fairness to the neighbour, they may also have been unsure it was an actual theft. Plenty of trades coming and going, removing things that may not be quite right. The neighb...

We have a deep khaki green splashback, Dulux Army Issue. I love it, one of my favourite things in the house.

It looks like a grass tree, xanthorrhoea. I am a complete novice though, so I may well be way off the mark.

Been in three years and still hate my vanity selection. Fantastic in two bathrooms, a powder room and part of the laundry. Also in our kitchen the two colours don't contrast as much as I would have liked. I realised that they wouldn't bother me at all if I hadn't selected them, but because I did, I ...

If you do a quick search of posts by Jo K I'm pretty sure she used Peruvian Clay from memory and there should be some pics floating around. ETA: stupid iPAd won't co-operate with links, but a quick search for Peruvian Clay showed a number of pics on the forum.

::kiss:: Legally, no water from your neighbours property is allowed to enter your house. BTW even though your decking will be at the neighbour's level. As far as water concerned, nothing has changed. That's lovely looking. Is it faster growing than the dodonea I already have in? I know that is fast growing but mine seems to be taking it's time. :th: I think everyone hates getting a lot of wind, not just lemon trees :) :n: :n: :n:

I'd definitely go with the lighter render. It will work in well with your mortar and give a lovely contrast to your bricks. I'd probably stick with Monument for the fascia. It will be a really simple but striking facade with the dark bricks and roof, light render and the wood. Just one suggestion, h...

We had our contract appointment this week and it went reasonably well. There were a couple of price changes that we were not anticipating - extra bracing on the walls to accommodate extra wall tiles. That was $770. Plus we needed to add R2.5 batts to the external walls to make the house 6 star rate...
