This happened to a friend. Plaster around bulkhead was not level - obvious slant. He told site supervisor. Place got painted etc, then they came back and repaired. Had to rip down plaster, redo and repaint. I suggest you get it in writing that they will repair and a date when it will be completed a...
Thank you!

We’re doing a knockdown rebuild and instead of engaging our own private inspector from the start we opted with the builders recommended inspector. When the fixing stage completed we popped in and saw a few obvious issues we engaged an independent inspector to come through. They picked up a whole hea...

If costs is your issue, custom builders will definitely cost more. We're really struggling to find a custom builder to come within $150k of what project builders cost. I've heard through owner building you can save up to 30% but there are risks too... keen to hear from people with experience on this...

Ezza78 I'm sure it will be worthwhile in the end! You get exactly what you want and it'll be one of a kind :) Joker, custom builders definitely have lots of plus sides but I'm not sure if we can afford the extra $150k...

Hi Ezza78, we've contacted Busby Homes too, they were really lovely but think will be out of our budget. Did you get a ballpark figure before you made any payments? Was that close to your final cost?

Thanks cant decide, I'll give those a try. Hi Old Bloke and Ezza78, if you don't mind me asking, who are you building with? Got another quote back for high $500k :( we thought we could afford to start building but these prices are just too crazy...

We're looking to go custom after the volume builders refuse to build on our land (sloping block - 5m), but how do you decide which one is the best value? It seems like you have to be really invested into it ($10k+ in deposits) before you can get a price so how do you choose? Just gut feel? How do yo...

Me too! We've just been rejected by the bigger builders due to the slope of our land so we're looking to go custom!

You'd need to ask a town planner, it will depend on your local council. It will probably involve a subdivision of land, development approval etc. If you don't want to (or can't afford) to go through all of that now, you should at least get some preliminary town planning advice so whatever you do no...
Thanks! Will call the council next week! We had a look at building costs for duplexes, and they pretty much cost the sa...

Hi everyone, We're super excited that we've finally bought something after months and months and months of searching! The block we purchased is big enough for 2 townhouses, but we only want to (and can only afford to) build one to start off with, and leave enough land at the back for the potential o...
