I'm in Brisbane, slab poured 2 weeks ago, first floor frames being delivered next week - timber. Ugh.... you're killing me with jealousy! Lucky you. I have noticed on my estate a few of the double stories get their ground floow frames and then they sit for weeks waiting for the top floor. I hope th...

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I'm on to my third build, but our last home built by Porter Davis was the best experience thus far. We would have built with them again, however we wanted something a bit more custom, and they weren't able to provide that. We had two separate building and...

There's absolutely no reason to screed your slab for main flooring tiles unless your concretor has done an appalling job of the slab. Anyone that says you should, are those trying to get an extra dollar out of you.

I'm sorry, but that is correct. We also built on a corner block, and had to set our house back a further 2.5m to avoid being within that 9x9m truncation. In the end we didn't mind it, as we still had a decent sized back yard, and it gave us a nice sized front yard with an extra long driveway compare...

I'm probably overdue for another update. Our render has now been finished. The render mix colour is Shale Grey, however we are also having the painters paint over it with Shale Grey paint. This will ensure it is a direct match to the weatherboards, but also if there is any chips/damage in the future...

That doesn't sound right to me. The subfloor underneath your tiles has to be waterproofed. This prevents any water coming through to the floor below if you have any cracks in your tiles/grout, otherwise all water leaks on top of the tiles would go through the floor waste. If water was leaking to th...
No 13 years ago they never had too do waterproofing. It wasn’t Australian standard then. And even thou we offered to pa...

Not in Queensland they didn't. There wasn't a single Hamptons style facade with any volume builder in QLD when I started looking for a builder 2 years ago. The best looking one they have now available up here from Metricon in the signature range in the Bayville, and in the comparable size to what I...

Hi, thanks for your information. We have not signed the contract yet. We did mention this to the contract coordinator Leah (Is it same as yours?), she said she has not had this request come through before and she will check on this for us but it seems she doesn't think it is something being offered...

Yeah we went with M because they fixed our site costs below 10k on an E class site for a double story. Otherwise their inclusions and extras all pretty much the same as most other builders we spoke to. They have been OK and are better than the builder we used a few years ago. Our frame inspection s...

I read your posts, I get it now, you wanted the Hampton look that would suit your block. Beautiful house, are you getting stage inspections for your build ie frame, etc? Yeah none of the other volume builders did a hamptons styled home, so that's why we chose PD. I've noticed in the past 12 months ...

Went up to the house over the weekend to see if there was any further progress, and to our surprise our front balcony and master bedroom terrace has had the balustrade installed. We've also had most of our grouting finished. The niche in the kitchen above my fridge cavity was plastered incorrectly, ...

Hi there! Yes they can be quite expensive, which is why we chose to spend our money upgrading items that would be harder to do ourselves after handover. We weren't told about these options until after signing our contract, it actually came as a post contract variation from our contract coordinator ...

Starting to all come together, how much longer left on the build. Noticed that some of the Baluster up stairs a few look off, are they fixing that. Well our contract has allowed up until the 10th of November. Several weeks ago our SS was saying it would be mid to late October, now he's saying early...

Thanks for the reply and the advice. We are looking to finalize our design this week to start the process. As our's is a knock down rebuild i'm sure the timeline will be a little longer. We are hoping to have the pool installed before the build commences to save on costs down the track. Couple extr...
