Wondering if anyone has used recycled/reclaimed timber flooring for a new build/reno? Were you happy that you did and any recommendations on where to source the timber from. We're kind of interested in that 'pre-damaged' look and also figure scratches, wear-and-tear etc will blend in more. Thanks.

Many thanks Garden Whisperer. That all sounds good and what I am after is an 'acceptable' DIY repair. We are likely to renovate in the next 3-5 years and so it only needs to do the job until then. Given there will be several square metres to cover - Sikabond Techgrip seems like it will blow out in c...

Many thanks Garden Whisperer - I was beginning to think this was falling in the too hard basket. I'm not sure why they're loose, but what you say about pulling them all up and relaying makes sense, and what I was resigning myself to doing. The question is what do I re-lay them with - mortar mix or s...

Hi, Wondering if I can get some advice on how to re-lay pavers that have become loose? We've just moved to a new property and I've found about a dozen pavers that are basically just 'sitting' in position. They're about 50 cm x 20 cm in size. They have been used to pave steps leading down to the back...

Hi, We have just had our floor tiles laid - we chose a coloured grout to match the 'cappucino' colour of the tiles. I noticed that the colour of the grout (pretty sure it's all dry - has been 24 hours) is quite variable - dark in some areas through to light. We used a Kerakoll presealed grout produc...

We're thinking of an in-wall cistern and have been recommended by our plumber to go for the 6L size. The pan that I quite like is designed for 4.5L (it's also cheaper compared to others). The sales guy said functionally it should be fine from a flushing perspective - the only issue would be that if ...

We were thinking of using porcelain tiles for the floor and bath/shower walls and then ceramic (as they're cheaper) for the remainder of the walls - both in a 300 x 600 size. Are there any issues with how they might look in terms of matching up the grout lines? i.e. is it better for uniformity to ei...

Hi, We've had a new timber floor laid, but am a little disappointed with the end product. We laid Roasted Peat (kiln-treated blackbutt) and loved the look of it when we saw a sample in Tait's (Melbourne) - it had a very chocolately/brown colour to it. We elected to use a solvent-based poly for the d...

We're looking at a Hatria Toilet and Tece in-wall cistern for our bathroom renos, but can't find much info on either company (a search for Hatria on these forums doesn't bring up any hits, for example) . Has anyone used or had any issues with Hatria or Tece products? Thanks.

Hi, We have BIRs (large sliding door mirrored type) in each of our kids bedrooms. The storage organisation is really poor (e.g. no drawers, few shelves, etc) and makes it hard for the kids to keep their clothes tidy (that's an excuse anyway). We are happy to keep the doors as is and basically just w...
