The presentation is your final inspection time, if you don't get an inspector. So you go through the house with the site supervisor to check everything over. Since I had an inspection, it was just to check the work is OK and another chance to go over and pick up any issues. So took the chance to che...

Congrats on the formal appoval Ruby! It's not a straightforward read, and there's tonnes of it! I have my "New Home Presentation" tomorrow morning. So they've rectified all of the things that they're prepared to on the list from my independent inspector. The only thing they disagreed about...

Only for final. I've been visiting on site quite a bit, and had a few tradie mates look at things. I've not seen anything that really concerns me, so didn't feel the need to get inspections at each stage.

Had the building inspector in today. It went really well all up. All cosmetic and minor things - a cracked tile, paint imperfections, carpet lifting in a wardrobe, a damaged cornice, clothesline bent and needs straightening. Building inspector had about a page of defects, he said he usually had 2-3 ...

Well, occupancy certificate was apparently issued today. :: So, my independent building inspector is going in on Tuesday for final inspection. Flooring, driveway, letterbox, clothesline, and the landscaping were done this week. So just caulking, paint touch ups and final site clean next week, Hopefu...

Thanks for that Fuzz - really good to know that the finished product looks positive! There's actually a couple of bits of my render that look a little off, but I think the render guy comes back after the driveway goes down - just in case of splashes - so I've taken some photos and we'll see how it g...

I had a site visit this afternoon and my painting is now finished, the electrical and data cabling is done (so light fittings, light switches, power points, NBN cabling), and the tilers will be done tomorrow. So I have plumbing fit off, my driveway and landscaping still left to do at the end of this...

Wow - go away for a week and we pick up another one! Welcome on board Myheadfelloff - definitely an appropriate name! I had the same guys as Pooks for sales and colours. I'm not a super visual person either, so I went on a grand tour of the estates and just took photos of all of the colour combinati...

My partner and I are in Dingley at the moment renting and I work in moorabbin so I'm looking at a lot more travel but I think it will be worth it knowing I am coming home to my own house and not paying someone else's mortgage payments! I work in the CBD most of the time, so just a change of scenery...

I'll get some pics up on photobucket tomorrow for you - I've been blogging it on Facebook. I have some tradie friends who I got in to check out the frame, brickwork and cabling for me, but I'll get an inspector for the final stage, just to be sure. THe progress payments have been fine, once you sign...

Yeah the speed has been fantastic and I'm not seeing shortcuts which is great. I was working in Seaford for most of the build, so dropped by every few days to say hi. :D I actually wanted quite a traditional brick looking brick, and found one I loved in the displays. Turns out there was one VERY sim...

I'm at Quarters. I'm a Frankston girl now, so closer to what I know. I had my contract/colour appointment on 27 Jan, then settlement was mid-March. Earthmoving equipment arrived on 20 April, slab was poured on 3 May and lock up was 5 June. I had a sales guy, then a lovely NZ lady take me through con...

I've been pleasantly surprised. I've been lurking for a while and seeing some of the dramas that the others have had, but it's been pretty smooth for me. I went through Resolve as well, and the final approval took ages, easily 3-4 weeks. That was pretty stressful, but they were in contact with me wh...

Yes! I'm building a Metro 17 in Cranbourne West. Just at the fixing stage now, so very close to being finished.
